Homeschooling through IEA is preferred by many families in Florida. IEA’s philosophy is to blend the freedom of homeschooling with the benefits and features of fully enrolled students in our private school.
Students who are homeschooled through IEA are not counted as "homeschoolers" by the state. Because the state makes no distinction among private schools, children homeschooled in this fashion are legally considered to be private school students.
IEA provides a online option which includes attending school at our physical location or from home. In either case, IEA Online students are "fully enrolled" and receive the following features and benefits:
Enrollment Orientation - You will personally meet with your IEA Family and Student Liaison (FSL). Your FSL is a conduit between our IEA, FLVS and its teachers. While FLVS teachers provide excellent course support, your IEA Liaison is your curriculum coordinator, mentor, and career coach.
Administrative Orientation - You will also meet with our IEA Administrator. During this meeting we will review your enrollment information and record it within our central file. You will become familiar with Teacherease; an easy to access online depository of your student's records and progress. Teacherease is also used to keep you up-to-date with information pertaining to events and activities
Student Records - Your student will be fully enrolled as an IEA Student. We maintain your records in accordance with Florida Statutes which include demographic information, health records, attendance reports, and a central file of records received from past schools and any independent/ private testing and evaluations.
Course Credit Review - We will review your student’s completed work and accompanying records as a means of determining credits earned at time of enrollment.
Curriculum Plan - We will provide you with an account of the current status of your student and what credits will be needed to graduate
Placement Testing - We will complete standardized diagnostic testing when requested or suggested for an additional fee.
Course Selection - Course selection will be identified in the Curriculum Plan.
Teacher Led Courses - Most core courses will be provided by FLVS and delivered by FLVS teachers. IEA has an Affiliate Agreement with FLVS and has experience with FLVS courses. At times IEA will recommend an IEA teacher led course; for example, Art, Communications, Leadership, and PE for additional credit when needed.
Special Emphasis - IEA has a special emphasis on physical activity and overall wellness. We are the first school in Florida to provide the XRKade program. XRKade combines exercise with video gaming for an active and fun PE program.
Homework Helper - When your student encounters difficulty with homework, they might not want to contact their teacher right away, but first use our online homework helper tools.
Transcripts - Transcripts will be maintained as current. Official Transcripts are processed in affiliation with NARS. NARS is an accredited Umbrella School and partner of IEA. NARS provides a Diploma recognized by Colleges and Universities throughout the country
Texts Practice - Your student can get prepared to take a variety of college admission and college credit tests, including the SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, and AP Exams.
Social and Relationship Activities - Your student can be involved with the IEA Newsletter, Yearbook, attend the annual PROM, and other activities and events.
Technology Den - IEA is equipped with high speed internet access. Computer work stations are available with workspace for using your own computer. Print stations are available and all computers are equipped with MS Office. IEA has more than a dozen 32" monitors for group PowerPoint presentations and other collaboration projects. Just let us know what you need and we'll schedule you.
